A former CIA chief has advocated “covertly” killing Russians and Iranians fighting alongside the Syrian army in order to make them “pay a price” for supporting Assad.
In an outrageous interview with PBS’s Charlie Rose, the CIA’s former deputy director Michael Morell proposed stepping up support to Syrian rebels by giving them “the things they need to both go after the Assad government” as well as allied Iranian and Russian forces on the Syrian battlefield.
Morell elaborated that the “price” the Russians and Iranians would be made to pay for their role in the Syrian civil conflict is death.

“We make them pay the price by killing Russians and killing Iranians?” Rose asked. “Yes,” said Morell emphatically, arguing that the action should be covert. “You don’t stand up at the Pentagon and say ‘we did this,’ but you make sure they know it in Moscow and Tehran.”
Morrell then outlined his desire to attack Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s powerbase, saying he wants to “go after his presidential guard” and “bomb his offices in the middle of the night.” “I wanna destroy his presidential aircraft on the ground, I wanna destroy his presidential helicopters, I wanna make him think we’re coming after him,” the hawkish ex-intelligence chief said, stopping short of advocating Assad’s assassination.
“I want [Assad] to think … ‘this is not going to end well for me.'”
Morell served as deputy director of the CIA from 2012 to 2013 under the Obama-Clinton White House. In a New York Times op-ed, Morell threw his weight behind warmonger Hilary Clinton for president, who shares his militarist views towards the governments of Syria, Iran and Russia. Clinton has in the past made clear her intention to “attack Iran” and “completely obliterate them” if Tehran ever threatened Israel.
The CIA has been for some time the world’s leading state-sponsor of terrorism, a title the perennially hypocritical Americans and Israelis often throw at Iran, but which is actually true of themselves.
As Morell plainly revealed in the Rose interview, it is CIA bosses like himself who support and continue to advocate for terrorism in other countries.
Not only has the CIA engaged in covert terrorism abroad, but also on the homefront. According to the stellar research of author Michael Collins Piper, the CIA and Israeli Mossad conspired to bring together the assassination of John F. Kennedy in 1963 because the late president was diplomatically “at war” with Israel over its covert nuclear weapons development program (which Kennedy was trying to stop) and promised to “splinter the CIA in a thousand pieces.”
